With the conservative and conformist mindset getting fainter by day, the new, vibrant, and burgeoning middle class of India is seeking more value for their money.

According to the Knight Frank Report on Affordable Housing, the housing requirement for the Rs. 3-10 lakh income group across the 7 cities (NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata) is approximately 2 million housing units by 2011, which, assuming an average dwelling size of 800 sft, translates to a requirement in excess of 1.5 billion sft of residential space.
